ACOC discussion on proposals

ACOC agreed to file final versions of proposal responses to the wiki: ACOC responses to 2014 JSC proposals. This will ensure all documents receive a final review before submitting to JSC

6JSC/LC/28     Revision to RDA

Jenny’s draft response was endorsed by ACOC

6JSC/ALA/31  Subject relationship element in RDA chapter 23

Catherine has prepared a skeleton draft, however recommends ACOC read 6JSC/ALA/31 in conjunction with Technical Working Group 3 before further discussion

6JSC/ALA/28  Priority order for sources of information RDA

ACOC agrees with this proposal, however recognises that the outcome of 6JSC/BL Rep/1 may impact this proposal

6JSC/ALA/29  Clarify core element status in distribution and manufacture statements RDA 2.9 and 2.10

ACOC generally agrees with this proposal with the assumption that publication information is present in the catalogue record.  It was noted that this proposal may be impacted on by the outcome of 6JSC/BL Rep/1

6JSC/BL rep/1            Simplification of RDA 2/7 – 2/10

ACOC discussed this paper in terms of

  • Clarifying terminology
  • Implications of proposed scenarios
  • Recording properties as single or separate elements

The paper, which aims to reduce instructions while maintaining granularity, has relationship to 6JSC/LC/24.  ACOC will continue this discussion with reference to LC/24

ACOC generally agrees with this proposal, however does not endorse terminology “political body” and definition for jurisdiction to include judicial corporate body

ACOC began discussions on recommendations proposed in the paper. Decisions deferred to next meeting
