- Base materials for microfilm
- Extent of text
These are due either by April 16, or early July (for the longer more complex ones).
Kevin reported that Chapter 6 is now being proofread and will be discussed at the April 4 JSC conference. It is due for release in late 2012.
The order for the remaining chapters is 2-3, 7, 19, 20, 8, then the Table Of Contents.
Kevin gave an update on the current JSC Schedule
- 9 July – all draft proposals on website
- 8 August – proposals due
- 8 October – responses to proposals due
- Face to Face meeting - November 2012
Use of RIMMF
ACOC discussed a webinar by Deborah Fritz about a visualisation tool called RIMMF (RDA in Many Metadata Formats). Catherine has looked at RIMMF to see how it might be used in RDA training. John Attig has advised that the RDA examples will be done in RIMMF.
Notification emails regarding postings to the JSC website
Kevin will arrange for all members of ACOC to be on the mailing to list to receive notification when documents have been posted to the JSC website.
Catherine recapped on the progress to date with RDA Training, and next steps. ACOC and the NLA will manage RDA training, which will consist of Train-the-trainer training provided by the National Library on a cost recovery basis, and conducted at the Library. The training documentation used will be made freely available on the ACOC website for use by others.
The courses will be 3 days in duration, and there will likely be a separate course for educators/professional trainers, and NSLA Libraries (including NLNZ). The courses are being designed to transition AACR2 cataloguers to RDA, and will not be suitable for new cataloguers.
The National Library’s own staff will be trained in early 2013, and the Library’s implementation will be a rolling implementation during this period to allow staff to begin working with RDA as soon as their training is complete.
Memorandum of Understanding
ACOC discussed the draft of a new Memorandum of Understanding between the National Library and ALIA regarding ACOC. Some changes to the draft were recommended and it will be discussed further at the next meeting.
2012 ACOC Seminar
ACOC continued discussions about the ACOC Seminar. There is still no final decision about when to have a seminar and the various option discussed will be considered by members and a final decision made at the next teleconference.
