The Digital Future of Newspapers: Report on the Australian Newspaper Plan Survey, November 2007

This survey aimed to develop a picture of Australian public libraries' activities and attitudes towards: newspaper digitisation, the collection of electronic versions that are identical to hard copy newspapers; and the provision of access (both immediate and long-term) to digital newspapers.

Digital Action Plan

On 25 June 2007, the Australian Newspaper Plan held a workshop on the implications of digital technology for newspaper preservation and access. At this workshop, an action plan was developed to assist ANPlan to meet its objectives in the digital age. These actions have been incorporated into ANPlan's Five year Plan.

Cooperative Newspaper Microfilming 2007/8

One of the ways in which the National Library of Australia works with state and territory libraries to preserve access to Australian newspaper heritage is through the provision of cooperative newspaper microfilming project payments. These payments support microfilming carried out as part of the Australian Newspaper Plan. In 2007/8, the following projects have been supported:

Northern Territory Library

The project is to microfilm:

The project is to complete the production of replacement polyester masters and duplicate negatives for the NSW newspapers filmed during the NSW Provincial Newspaper Project for the years 1969-1992. These newspapers are:
