New titles for Australian Newspapers Digitisation Program

The National Library of Australia is pleased to announce the newspapers that are scheduled to be digitised through the Australian Newspapers Digitisation Program over the coming year: http://www.nla.gov.au/ndp/selected_newspapers/Future_Titles.html.

Through Trove (trove.nla.gov.au), the national resource discovery service,  there is free online access to over 5 million pages from over 130 Australian newspapers. All of the digitised newspapers are fully text-searchable and users can enrich and enhance the data through subject tagging, text correction and annotations.

Titles have been selected by the National Library in consultation with the state and territory libraries. A number of the titles are being digitised with the generous support and funding from a range of organisations. For those libraries and organisations wishing to digitise a specific newspaper title, Contributor Guidelines and a Factsheet provide additional information. If you would like any additional information please email us at austnewsdigiproj@nla.gov.au.

6 million newspaper pages!

Over 6 million newspaper pages are now being delivered through Trove. Further information about the Australian newspapers service can be found here. More information on how to contribute to Trove can be found here.

Wanted: Australia's Missing Newspapers

If there’s a stack of old newspapers gathering dust under the bed or out in the shed, Australian libraries want to know about it. The search is on for these valuable pieces of our social history, as part of the Australian Newspaper Plan. Missing newspapers and newspapers which have recently been found are listed on this website. Contact us if you know the whereabouts of a missing newspaper. See also:
