1. LicencedAustLit: the Australian literature resource

: AustLit is a key resource for information about Australian writers and writing covering the 1780s to the present. AustLit provides a combination of enhanced biographical and bibliographical information and the full text of critical articles, creative writing and information resources about many aspects of Australia's literary heritage. AustLit also provides specialist research and information subsets, including Black Words: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Writers and Story Tellers, which contains biographical, bibliographical and full text material relating to Australian Indigenous cultures of literature and story. Other AustLit subsets cover children's literature, drama and popular theatre, multicultural writers, Australian magazine history, and Banned Books.

2. FreeAustralasian Journal of Victorian Studies

Australasian Victorian Studies Association: Australasian Journal of Victorian Studies is a fully refereed journal of Victorian Studies published by the Australasian Victorian Studies Association, with articles ranging on topics as diverse as archeology, architecture,art, economics, history, landscape gardening, literature, medicine, philosophy, print culture, psychology, science, sociology, spiritualism, town planning and theatre appearing in its pages. There are two issues a year.

The Australia Council: The Australia Council is the Australian Government's funding and advisory body. Through a range of grants, it directly supports young, emerging and established artists, in the fields of: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, community cultural development, dance, literature, music, new media arts, theatre and visual arts/craft.

Australian Book Review: Australian Book Review (ABR) is Australia's oldest literary review. Created in 1961, it publishes reviews, essays, commentaries and creative writing. It has a national scope and is committed to highlighting the full range of critical and creative writing from around Australia. ABR Online can be read on any device with web-browsing capabilities, including desktop computers, laptops, iPads, tablets and smart phones. It offers full access to digital content, including back issues, extended information on contributors and an index that currently covers issues back to 2000. Selective coverage of articles back to 1994/95 is available in APAFT. Indexes for older issues can be found in the print version of ABR, and it is also indexed in AustLit and APAIS.

Australian Copyright Council: Provides access to a range of information sheets, books, news items, training programs and policy documents.

6. FreeAustralian Literary and Historical Texts

A Collection of 18th, 19th and early 20th Century Australian Texts. The following institutions have provided texts and support for the advancement of this project: Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project 1840-45, Macquarie Dictionary Ozcorp Database, Scholarly Editions Centre at the Australian Defence Forces Academy, Canberra, State Library of New South Wales, Vicnet Ozlit Web Site at the Victorian State Library Scholars Centre, University of Western Australia

7. FreeAustralian Periodical Publications 1840-1845

The Australian Periodical Publications 1840-1845 component of the Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project (ACDP) provides web access to digital copies of Australian serials first published between 1840 and 1845. Fiction published during the same period has also been digitised. These titles are available as searchable text from the University of Sydney's SETIS site at http://setis.library.usyd.edu.au/oztexts/acdp.html

8. FreeAustralian Poetry Library

: The Australian Poetry Library provides access to a wide range of poetic texts as well as to critical and contextual material relating to them, including interviews, photographs and audio/visual recordings. This website currently contains over 42,000 poems, representing the work of more than 170 Australian poets. All the poems are fully searchable, and may be accessed and read freely on the World Wide Web. Readers wishing to download and print poems may do so for a small fee.

9. FreeAustralian studies resources: full text and image collections

SETIS: The Australian Studies Resources page at the University of Sydney Library's Electronic Text and Image Service (SETIS)provides access to digital editions of Australian literary and historical texts and a number of other Australian Studies Resources. Titles available in the Full Text collections include: Australian Literary and Historical Texts, Australian Classic Works (contemporary Authors on demand at Sydney University Press), Australian Federation Full Text Database ( the national debates and auxiliary writings of the 1890's, Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project 1840-45: Novels and Periodicals, Australian Poets: Brennan, Harford and Slessor, Journals of Inland Exploration, First Fleet and Early Settlement (manuscripts and published journals of the First Fleet).

R. R. Bowker: Comprehensive database of worldwide English language book, audiobook, and video titles. Also contains books out of print, the full Publishers Authority Database, bestseller database (spanning over 100 years) and a database of author biographies.
