Included are statistical publications on agriculture, demography, census, finance, labour, manufacturing, national accounts, prices, service industries, social trends, trade and transport. Electronic copies of ABS publications and related statistical tables are free to any member of the public with Internet access. Also provides access to a growing collection of historical statistics.

This was the first New South Wales census. It was held in November 1828 and is the only census to survive in full to the present day. It aimed to record all the inhabitants of the colony at the time, and provides the individual's full name, age, place of residence, ship of arrival, occupation employer's name and place of residence.
Gould Genealogy: View the actual 1841 census together with a modern index and biographies. Population at 01 January - 15,485 persons. The 1841 census is the only one in South Australia for which any detailed records survive.
Australian Bureau of Statistics: CLIB 2001 is a CD-ROM product which contains tabulated census data, with software that allows access, display, printing and aggregation of the data with drill down mapping functionality. It is produced from the data captured by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the 2001 census of population and housing.

Searching is free but viewing the records is via pay per view or subscription. Index to Census Records 1837-1857 [Tasmania]Archives Office of Tasmania: In 1840 a Census Commission was established to conduct a census of the Tasmanian population. The index includes census taken in the following years: 1837, 1838, 1842, 1843, 1848, 1851, and 1857.
Index to the 1841 CensusState Records of New South Wales: The 1841 census records the population by police districts, counties and towns. The Index to the 1841 Census covers all the surviving householders' returns and abstracts of returns. As the returns record only the name of the head of the household, the names of the other people resident in the household are not identified. The Index provides details of: householder's or owners name; return number; residence; item identifier; page number; reel number and notes. 1841 census, abstracts of householders returns, Reel 1 (A.O.
