31. FreeComLaw: Commonwealth of Australia Law

Attorney-General's Department: ComLaw provides access to Australian Commonwealth statutory instruments, which include Bills, Acts, Regulations, Statutory Rules, Ordinances, Rules, By-laws, Proclamations and Determinations. PLEASE NOTE: From 1 January 2005 all new primary and subordinate legislation that is made will be published on ComLaw/Federal Register of Legislative Instruments as relevant, not to SCALEplus. However, SCALEplus will continue to be available to users until all relevant material, including historical material, is migrated to ComLaw. Until this process is complete, you may need to visit SCALEplus in order to access the contents of: all historical databases, Statutory Rules that are not in force, and the legislation of the non-self-governing Territories.

Commonwealth Secretariat: The Commonwealth is an association of 53 countries, from vast countries like Canada to small island states like Malta. It is active in a number of areas including development, democracy, debt management and trade. This resource contains links to publications, news, documents, press releases and videos, as well as profiles for all Commonwealth countries.

Primary Source Media: This collection of American government documents comes from various agencies, including the White House, the CIA, the FBI, the State Department, and others. The major domestic and international events of the post-World War II world are covered in information by and for presidents, senators, and congress members. All were classified. Some were top secret. Every one of them can be searched to see what was removed -- and what was left in.

Commonwealth of Australia: This website's aim is to trace the development of Australian democracy through the key documents directing the constitutional paths taken so far. The eight State and Territory government archives planned and produced this website in partnership with the support of Australia's National Council for the Centenary of Federation. Collected on this website are the sets of documents which tell the story of Australia's democracy.

Country Forecasts (Asia and Australia), Country Risk Services (Australia) and Country Commerce (Australia) Reports are also available.

University of Ghent, Belgium: a broad-based collection of resources pertaining to economic and legal issues throughout the world. Showcasing a comprehensive index of searchable bibliographic resources, This site also includes abstracts of recent law and economics reviews. The Law and Economics Web Resources section features working papers, bibliographies, and mailing lists. In addition, the site links to law and economics academic programs, associations, and an array of relevant Websites.

39. FreeEuropa: Gateway to the European Union

European Union: The European Union's portal provides up-to-date coverage of European Union affairs and information about European integration. Users can access the websites of each of the EU institutions and find out about the policies administered by the European Union under the powers devolved to it by treaties.

40. FreeFIRST (Facts on International Relations and Security Trends)

FIRST is a joint project of the International Relations and Security Network (ISN) and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The integrated database system covers areas in the field of international relations and security, such as hard facts on armed conflicts and peace keeping, arms production and trade, military expenditure, armed forces and conventional weapons holding, nuclear weapons, chronology, statistics and other reference data. The SIPRI yearbook is also available in print at S 341.7305 STO.

The Library holds a large collection of material relating to Australian politics and government. This guide contains selected print works only.

"Law reports and court records: print resources"

The National Library holds law reports published in Australia from 1825. Historical sets of law reports are also held for many overseas countries. Court records include unpublished decisions, transcripts of proceedings (verbatim accounts of statements given during the course of proceedings), letters, lists of trials, depositions, circulars, bench books etc. They may cover the topics of wills (grants of probate or letters of administration), divorce, bankruptcy, civil and criminal cases, naturalisation, newspaper registrations and conscientious objectors.
