Law and Policy InstitutionsThis site provides access to legal and legislative information. In addition to American legal topics, information is provided on significant international treaties, journals, and legal databases ranging from antiquity to the present and representing all nationalities. The Article Database contains articles of original research, analysis and expression with wide appeal and an emphasis on contemporary legal developments.
New Zealand LegislationNew Zealand Parliamentary Counsel Office/Te Tari Tohutohu Pāremata(PCO),: This website provides free public access to up-to-date versions of the following New Zealand legislation: Acts of Parliament: public Acts local Acts private Acts imperial Acts in force in New Zealand provincial Acts and provincial Ordinances in force in New Zealand The Income Tax Act 2007, Schedule 3 (Excise and excise-equivalent duties) of the Customs and Excise Act 1996, and Schedule 1 (The Tariff) of the Tariff Act 1988 are not currently available in the collection. Regulations published in the Statutory Regulations series, and Imperial subordinate legislation in force in New Zealand. Schedule 3 (Thai goods containing non-originating materials) of the Customs and Excise Regulations 1996 is not currently available in the collection. Bills (Government Bills, Members' Bills, Local Bills, and Private Bills). Supplementary Order Papers (SOPs). Bills before the House or its select committees (and Supplementary Order Papers associated with those Bills) are being added progressively over a two-month period. All future Bills and Supplementary Order Papers will be added to the website. Some Bills and Supplementary Order Papers are labelled "Unofficial version", to indicate that they have yet to be checked by the Office of the Clerk. Amendment Acts and amendment Regulations are provided in all cases from 1999 onwards. Amendment Acts and amendment Regulations from 1997 and 1998 are also provided, but usually in summary format. In general, amendment Acts and amendment Regulations before 1997 are not provided. Acts repealed and Regulations revoked after 4 September 2007 are available on this website. Legislation repealed or revoked before this date is not available.
SCALEPlusPLEASE NOTE: From 1 January 2005 all new primary and subordinate legislation that is made will be published on ComLaw/Federal Register of Legislative Instruments as relevant, not to SCALEplus. However, SCALEplus will continue to be available to users until all relevant material, including historical material, is migrated to ComLaw. Until this process is complete, you may need to visit SCALEplus in order to access the contents of: all historical databases, Statutory Rules that are not in force, and the legislation of the non-self-governing Territories.

Source documents: Content is gathered from journals in IP Australia Library's collections, with further reference to other journals, conference papers, book chapters and electronic documents, as appropriate. URL links are supplied to freely available material. Subject coverage: SNIPER provides information relating to IP Australia's core business areas, namely patents, trade marks and designs. SNIPER also includes other topics that impact on IP Australia's business, especially related intellectual property matters such as copyright, plant breeder's rights and domain names. These related matters are included if they relate to significant Australian or international trends and developments, or if they are significant to the field of intellectual property as a whole.
Informit: TAXABS covers primarily taxation law, but also includes other areas of interest such as child support, accounting and superannuation. Journal articles, legislation and cases are included in this database.

This resource contains links to major Australian legal sites on the Internet organised by jurisdiction. It provides links to the websites of all commonwealth courts (federal, high and family courts of Australia) and state law resources including legislation, parliaments and courts.
The National Library holds law reports published in Australia from 1825. Historical sets of law reports are also held for many overseas countries. Court records include unpublished decisions, transcripts of proceedings (verbatim accounts of statements given during the course of proceedings), letters, lists of trials, depositions, circulars, bench books etc. They may cover the topics of wills (grants of probate or letters of administration), divorce, bankruptcy, civil and criminal cases, naturalisation, newspaper registrations and conscientious objectors.
