1. FreeAANRO : Australian Agriculture and Natural Resources Online

Infoscan: AANRO provides bibliographic and research information on Australian agriculture and natural resource management. It contains descriptions of research projects and publications covering land and water resources, agriculture and forestry. Publications indexed include journals, government publications, newsletters, websites and current research. Links to the full text of documents are provided where available. AANRO incorporates the superseded databases ABOA (Australian Bibliography of Agriculture), ARRIP (Australian Rural Research in Progress), CARRP (Completed Australian Rural Research Projects) and Streamline, which are also available on the Informit subscription service, Agriculture & Natural Resources Online. Access is also provided to Geosearch, which contains keyword and geographic searching for drainage divisions, catchments areas, and agro-ecological regions.

2. FreeABARE: Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics

Federal Government Department for Agriculture: Produced by the federal government, this is the primary source for Australian agricultural data. The site contains commodity forecasts, publications, company profiles and employment information. Statistical data relating to beef, sheep, dairy, forestry and energy industries is available as well as free databases: Beef, Prime Lamb and Sheep Industry Database and Resource Management Survey 2001-02 which give historical data dating from the 1960s.

3. FreeAgNIC: The Agriculture Network Information Center

The AgNIC portal is a gateway for presenting selected food, agricultural and environmental information and resources through specific services. These services are: Resource database - this database contains web sites, image collections, lists of publications, documents, databases, and other unique resources; Calendar of events - this service includes meetings, seminars, and conferences in the agricultural and related sciences ranging from local events to international congresses; News - this service relays selected news items impacting the related communities; Specialized Services - such as Plant Disease Announcements - discussions on emerging plant diseases around the world; Expertise - librarians and subject specialists respond to individual questions.

4. FreeAGRICOLA: Article Citation Database

U.S. National Agricultural Library and the U.S. National Technical Information Service: AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access) is a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and its cooperators. The database covers materials in all formats, including printed works from the 15th century. The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences. AGRICOLA does NOT contain the full-text of books, articles or other materials. However, some AGRICOLA citations do include links to materials available in full-text from the Internet.

Informit: This is a bibliographic database with informative abstracts and links to full text for agriculture and natural resources including sustainable Australian agriculture, food, forestry and fisheries industries and the promotion of conservation and sustainable use of Australia's environment, water and natural resources. Subjects covered include agriculture, animal health, environment, forestry, natural resources and water. Most records have a link to full text, a web site or document delivery service.

This virtual library aims to provide information on various topics that relate to Australian farming industries.

7. FreeAustralian Government Agriculture Portal

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry: The portal is a catalogue of Australian, State and Territory government information and services for the agricultural, fisheries, processed food and forestry industries. Categories to browse include resource management, products and resources, agricultural economics and agribusiness.

8. FreeBureau of Rural Science : Data and Tools

Bureau of Rural Science: Links to online data and mapping tools providing information on Australia's natural resources, agriculture, economy, land use and coastal environments, including the Australian Natural Resources Atlas and the Bioenergy Atlas of Australia. The Natural Resources Atlas allows you to create a custom map showing a range of environmental, agricultural and social information. The Bioenergy Atlas provides online mapping of existing and potential biomass energy resources in the agriculture and forestry fields, as well as existing industry locations, infrastructure and other key data.

9. OnsiteELIXIR - NRE's Electronic LIbrary eXchange for Information Resources

Informit: ELIXIR is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts books, reports, theses, video recordings, manuscripts and pictorial matter in departmental libraries and regional collections. ELIXIR includes records for publications from specialist collections in agriculture, mineral resources, conservation and land management.
