Source documents include journal articles, unpublished reports, books, videos and conference proceedings from many different sources around Australia. Emphasis is placed on reports written or commissioned by government and non-government heritage agencies throughout the country. Informit: Formerly HERA, this is a database from the Australian Heritage Commission, providing access to information on Australia's natural and cultural environment, including national parks, endangered species, wilderness areas, important historical and archaeological sites, historic buildings, structures and towns. It indexes journals, unpublished reports, books, videos, and theses from many different sources around Australia. Emphasis is placed on reports written or commissioned by government and non-government heritage agencies throughout the country. Contains material dating from the mid 1970s.

Environment Australia: This site is a directory to Australian heritage resources available on the internet. It includes searchable databases (such as the Australian Heritage Places Inventory) and lists of the national and state heritage registers. It also includes links to funding, relevant legislation, government and non-government agencies and other key resources.

6. OnsiteAustralia's Natural Resources Database - STREAMLINE

Informit: Provides information on all aspects of natural resource management, including land resources, vegetation resources and water resources. Subjects covered include: soil degradation, sustainable primary production systems, conservation, land use, vegetation rehabilitation, ecological processes, river health, management of nutrients and eutrophication, wetlands, aquatic ecosystems, urban water utilities, wastewater management and irrigation systems. Journal articles, published and unpublished reports, research in progress, books, book chapters and conference papers are all included. Material is taken from both Australian and international sources, but all relates to the Australian situation.

Color photographs and maps provide further illustrate the many species threatened by extinction, including amphibians, birds, crustaceans, fish, insects, mammals, mollusks, reptiles, and more. Each entry gives a species description, location, reason for endangerment, and measures being taken to prevent it from extinction. This online book is part of the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
