52. FreePADDLE: Pacific Archive of Digital Data For Learning and Education

University of the South Pacific: Provides full text access to education material relating to fifteen Pacific nations. This includes publications from the participating Ministries of Education including strategic plans, education legislation, curriculum frameworks and school policies. It also contains national development plans, statistics and budget information. The participating countries are: Palau, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Tokelau, Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and the Federated States of Micronesia.

Informit: An index to periodical literature relating to Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and ASEAN (as an entity), produced by the National University of Singapore. The database covers more than 250 core journals, ranging from the humanities and social sciences to architecture, building, law and medicine. The articles are mainly in English, with a small number in Malay. Most citations date from 1980, though medicine is covered from 1975 and law from 1932. Beginning from mid-1997, the database also covers book chapters and conference papers (both published and unpublished).

Gale: This collection contains a large portion of the archives of the British run municipal police force based in Shangai's former International Settlement. The most extensive coverage is provided by the Special Branch dossier files, which date from 1929-1945. National Library of Australia: South Seas is an online information resource for the history of European voyaging and cross-cultural encounters in the Pacific between 1760 and 1800. South Seas offers the full text of the holograph manuscript of James Cook's Endeavour Journal. (The National Library of Australia holds the original holograph 'Journal of the HMS Endeavour' in the Manuscripts Collection. This work has been digitised and can be viewed in its entirety at this URL http://nla.gov.au/nla.ms-ms1) The South Seas website also includes the full texts of the journals kept by Joseph Banks and Sydney Parkinson on the voyage. Also included is the text of John Hawkesworth's 'Account of the Voyages undertaken ... in the Southern Hemisphere' (1773).

"Guide to Selected Collections"

The Guide to the collections, edited by Clifford A. Burmester, was originally published by the National Library of Australia between 1974 and 1982. In it he made a survey of the library's collections by subject. This online Guide is an update of a number of the collections that appeared in the original publication, The entries give details about the individuals, families or organisations that assembled the collections, describe the size, scope and strengths of each collection, and summarise how they have been acquired, organised, catalogued or listed by the Library. While the majority of the collections described consist largely of Australian materials, there are also entries for significant Asian, European and North American collections. These descriptions are intended to complement the Library's catalogue and other finding-aids.
