Index to the Parliamentary Papers for the Colony of Victoria 1852-1869
Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies
This resource covers a range of papers tabled before both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council including: Reports from Government Departments; Select Committee Inquiries into a variety of matters; Civil Service Lists which include government employees; and Government Tenders, accepted and rejected. The purpose of this index is to gain access to the many instances in which the 'ORDINARY' person is referred to in government papers. In a very few cases, the information provided is little more than name, date, and district, however a careful reading of the source document may fill in pertinent details. In many cases, the information is more detailed and provides valuable leads to other material, however it must be remembered that the references are to government business, not church or private business matters.
