Macbeth Genealogical Services: This resource contains over 175,000 references to people in Tasmania up to 1950. It has been compiled from material held in the Mitchell Library, New South Wales, and in the Archives Office of Tasmania. Records include musters, immigration, church records to 1950, hotel licences, court, hospital, prison, land etc. Some records are from 1792 Norfolk Island and 1823-1848 New South Wales.

Archives Office of Tasmania: Contains records of births, deaths and marriages registered in Tasmania, including war deaths (WWI) of those who enrolled in Tasmania to serve with the Australian Imperial Forces and who died in service. Tasmanian Newspapers and Journals 1966-State Library of Tasmania: The Tasmanian Newspapers index provides references to articles in the three metropolitan Tasmanian newspapers; the Mercury, the Examiner and the Advocate, and to most other Tasmanian journals and regional newspapers. Most articles are indexed, but there are some exclusions (including routine sport reports and results, and reports of court proceedings). The Index also includes references to the contents of a few important early Tasmanian publications such as John West's History of Tasmania (1852) and the Cyclopedia of Tasmania (1900 and 1931). The index has been maintained since 1966. There are two indexes, covering records from 1966 to 1994 and 1994 onwards. Select the relevant index from the 'Online Indexes' box on this page.

Brightsolid in partnership with British Library: The British Newspaper Archive contains news articles, family notices, letters to the editor, obituaries and advertisements from historical newspapers published in the UK. The British Library is working in partnership with brightsolid online publishing over the next 10 years to digitise up to 40 million newspaper pages from the British Library's vast collection. The first stage of this project focuses on newspaper runs published before 1900 and will include titles from cities such as Birmingham, Derby, Manchester, Nottingham, Norwich, Leeds and York, along with county newspapers and local titles from London boroughs.
