Correspondence, memoranda, press clippings and other printed material. The correspondence includes letters to Deakin on tariffs, trade with New Zealand, trademarks, manufacturing industries, the sugar industry, British preference, trade with Canada, the shipment of fruit from Tasmania, the export of possum skins and several trade bills. The principal correspondents are Octavius Beale, Timothy Coghlan, R.M. Collins, Sir John Forrest, Moreton Frewen, William H. Irvine, J.H. Keating, Sir William Lyne, D.H. Ross, Sir John Seddon, David Syme, Lady Tennyson and Sir Joseph Ward. There are also papers on the Royal Commission on the Tariff, the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Secret Drugs, reciprocal trade between Australia and New Zealand, tariffs in general, 'New Protection' and trade discrimination against the Cape of Good Hope. Minor subjects include duties on imports from Britain, reciprocal trade with Canada, the 1909 petition of employees in the agricultural implements trades and the Agricultural Implement Makers' Union.
