Asia on the Web: Digital Resources for Asian Studies
Introduction
This guide, jointly produced by staff of the National Library and the Australian National University Library, is a sampler of the vast quantity of resources now available via the World Wide Web. A comprehensive overview of digital resources for Asia would involve a far larger project than has been undertaken here. The focus has been gateway sites (which will lead to a plethora of other available resources), digital collections and Australian resources. Some sites have been included to indicate the types and range of digital resources now available. General comprehensive sites, such as Yahoo and Google, have been omitted as these are well known and not Asia-specific. General Asia resources are listed first, followed by select resources for East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia, and for some countries from each region. Sites for specific countries and regions that are accessible through the general Asia sites have not been listed separately for each country or region. Both freely accessible sites and subscription only sites have been included.
This guide has been prepared originally for the Asia Research Forum held in the National Library in October 2005. It will be revised and kept up-to-date by the staff of the two libraries.
