Luce collection (Burma)

The National Library holds the collection of the eminent orientalist Professor H.G. Luce, comprising approximately 2,000 monographs, serials, manuscripts, maps and photographs. The collection covers South and Southeast Asia, with a strong emphasis on Burmese studies. It has particular strength on Burma in the nineteenth century, and includes the Burmese censuses in hard copy.

The manuscript component of the collection represents Professor Luce's life's work: there are linguistic studies of regional languages and comparative linguistic tables. Lists of these materials are available from Asian collections.
