Mapping Australia

Mapping Australia
Two mini-documentary videos on the themes of the Mapping Our World exhibition
15 November 2013

The major theme of  'Mapping our World' charts the ways in which the great south land was mapped over the centuries - fancifully, scientifically, accidentally, methodically... We've produced these two videos to tell those stories featuring the Library's Curator of Maps, Dr. Martin Woods. The first focuses on the various ways that the continent we know call 'Australia' has appeared and the names that it has been given over the centuries. The second is about the race between the French and English explorers, Baudin and Flinders, to chart the coastline of Australia.

We would love for you to come to see this fabulous exhibition,  but remember - tickets are free but booking is essential. Make your reservation for your preferred time on our website.
