Reader Registration |
|
|
If you are a remote user and do not visit the library, there is no need to register at all. To request materials for use in the Library's Reading Rooms, you will need to register as a National Library reader. It is only possible to submit the online registration form in the National Library Reading Rooms. When submitted, and after your ID has been checked by reading room staff, you will receive a National Library reader card. This card will enable you to place an electronic request for material via our online catalogue. The National Library operates closed-access book stacks which means users cannot browse the shelves to obtain material. Instead, material is retrieved for users by Library staff. Items requested may be made available for immediate use or reserved for later use in the Reading Rooms. Items can only be used in the Reading Rooms and are not to be taken from the library. Under the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 and in accordance with the Library's Privacy Policy, the National Library is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of information you provide in registering as a reader. Access to reader registration records is limited to Library staff engaged in database maintenance and statistical reporting. You may access your own reader registration record but information contained in your reader record will not be disclosed to any other reader, person or agency. Readers of the National Library are required to abide by the National Library Act, its regulations and the Acceptable Use of Information and Communication Technology. Please Note: You can only register for this system once as a reader. If you have lost your card or wish to change your contact details, please talk to staff at the desk. If you have any additional enquiries about registration or the e-CallSlips service please talk to staff at the desk. Staff may also be contacted by telephone (02) 6262 1266 or by the online form at http://www.nla.gov.au/infoserv/rf_form.html |
