PROMPT collection

The Performing Arts Programs and Ephemera (PROMPT) Collection provides access to a range of materials relating to the performing arts in Australia. It includes programs, brochures, publicity information.

It covers all performing arts in Australia, and companies or individuals visiting Australia, Australian companies and artists touring overseas as well as material from performances overseas of Australian plays, operas and other works. In general. the Library does not collect material for performances by amateur companies. Arrangement is predominantly under company name. Solo performers or high profile individuals will have their own files. There are also files of material under the names of such entrepreneurs as J.C. Williamson and Garnet H. Carroll.

The Performing Arts Programs and Ephemera, or PROMPT Collection, contains printed ephemera relating to all forms of performing arts in Australia. Items include:

  • programs
  • brochures
  • cast lists
  • publicity material
  • posters
  • fliers

The PROMPT collection contains material relating to:

  • Australian companies and individuals performing in Australia
  • companies or individuals visiting Australia
  • Australian companies and artists touring or working overseas
  • performances overseas of Australian plays, operas and other works.

The collection is predominantly arranged under company name although solo performers or high profile individuals may have their own files. The Library generally only collects material covering performances by professional companies.
