Digitisation Project Brief - Endeavour, Captain
Cook's journal 1768-1771
Purpose
To provide access to the manuscript journal of James Cook's Endeavour
voyage, to the out-of-print transcript produced by J.C. Beaglehole and
published by the Hakluyt Society, to
original artworks produced during the voyage, and numerous items in the
Library's collection relating to the voyage, through a CD-ROM publication.
Objectives
- Digitise black and white photographs of the manuscript journal
produced in 1973
- Interpret and to give context to the manuscript journal and to
related pictorial and map material
- Design and develop a CD-ROM publication to
communicate the story of the explorer and the voyage for national and
international audiences of all ages (15 year upwards)
- Produce the Library's first CD-ROM publication

Photographs of a mix of manuscript, pictorial, maps, rare books and
newspaper material.
