Current Priorities

The Library's digitisation priorities are informed by the following policy and planning documents:

Collection material scheduled for digitisation in the current year is detailed in the document Routine digitisation targets 2007-08. Listed below is an overview of the 2007-08 priority areas.

Pictures

The Pictures material to be digitised in 2007-08 include both recent and previously acquired collection materials. It is anticipated that digitisation of the following Pictures collections will be completed in their entirety this year:

In addition a selection of items from the following collections will be digitised:

  • Bruce Howard archive (photographic prints in the ‘Sheilas’ and ‘Pubs’ batches)
  • Bruce Howard Olympics 1956
  • Stan Cross cartoon archive.

Maps

In 2007-08 work will continue on cataloguing and digitising the Library’s Map collections. This will include continuation of the Rare Map collection and selected maps from the Ferguson Sales Plans collection.

Printed music

It is planned to complete in 2007-08 the digitisation of the sheet music published pre-1900 and between 1900-1930. In addition the digitisation will include some recent acquisition highlights such as Dame Melba’s annotated music, and items requiring digitisation for preservation reasons.

All newly acquired sheet music which is out of copyright will be routinely digitised.

Manuscripts

Manuscript digitisation for 2007-08 includes a photographic album from the Margaret Walker Dance Archive (Series 23, album 3), and Patrick White’s Memoirs of many in one (subseries 4.5, folder 6, box 8). In addition selected significant music items held in the Manuscript Collection will be digitised, including a number of Ballets Russes orchestral scores.
