papers. Transcribed by James Smith, they were published in the Report
of the Royal Commission. The dates of these items are as follows:
Field books No. 1–8, Cooper’s Creek to Carpentaria, 16 December
1860–February 1861. Field book No. 9 and unnumbered notes, from
Carpentaria to Cooper’s Creek, February 1861–21 April 1861.
