Sanctuary in the City – St John’s Church Canberra
by Randall Wilson and Rodney Garnett
St John’s Church and its historic precinct is one of Canberra’s treasures. Consecrated in 1845, the church, its churchyard and the schoolhouse predate the nation’s capital by almost 70 years. Written to coincide with Canberra’s centenary in 2013, Sanctuary in the City tells the story of the church and its place in the Canberra community from the pioneering years of the mid-nineteenth to today.
Celebrate the release of this important contribution to Canberra’s heritage with authors Randall Wilson and Rodney Garnett, and Alex Sloan of ABC 666 Canberra, who will officially launch the book.
