Charles Robert Scrivener, The Surveyor who Sited Australia’s National Capital Twice

By Terry Birtles

As a surveyor and bushman, Charles Robert Scrivener surveyed large areas of rugged country in New South Wales with thoroughness and accuracy, opening the way for the selection of a site for the national capital.  In Charles Robert Scrivener, The Surveyor who Sited Australia’s National Capital Twice Terry Birtles draws on family correspondence and official reports to reveal the life of this enterprising pioneer surveyor.

Please celebrate this book with the author and Emeritus Professor Ingrid Moses, former Chancellor of the University of Canberra, who will officially launch Charles Robert Scrivener, The Surveyor who Sited Australia’s National Capital Twice.

This project was supported with funding made available by the ACT Government under the ACT Heritage Grants Program.
