Joan Blaeu was a master cartographer for the Dutch East India Company in the mid-1660s. His map, Archipelagus Orientalis, sive Asiaticus (The Eastern or Asian Archipelago) is the first large-scale map of New Holland and one of the rarest maps in the world.
Join Dr Nigel Erskine, Australian maritime archaeologist and Research Manager at the Australian National Maritime Museum and Dr Martin Woods, National Library Curator of Maps tohear more about the the work of the famous Blaeu family, creators of maps, globes and grand atlases.
