Canberra Series lecture with John Perryman
On 16 March 2008 one of Australia's most enduring maritime mysteries was solved when the wreck of the Royal Australian Navy, WWII light cruiser HMAS Sydney (II) was found in deep water off the Western Australian coast. The search for the Sydney was conducted by the Finding Sydney Foundation and supported by the Australian Government and RAN. Lieutenant John Perryman, CSM, RANR, the Navy's Senior Historical Officer, was part of the search team and he will be sharing his experiences with the Friends of the National Library. John's presentation will discuss how the search was initiated, conducted and reveal what what found during the wreck examination phase of the operation.
