The Bunyip of YOUR Creek

Write a class story

This activity is linked to the National Profiles, Level 1, English.

Have the class design a book along similar lines to the Bunyip of Berkeley's Creek, the Bunyip of —your school- Creek.

Discuss with the class the storyline of your book,

  • WHO is in the book?
  • WHAT happens
  • WHERE does it happen

Materials:

The Bunyip of Berkeley’s Creek
Large blank paper
Coloured pencils, textas, paint, glitter, etc.
Stiff cardboard for a book cover
Staples or strong tape to stick the book together

Teacher to write text in very large format on blank paper. Students in seating or groups of three or four to illustrated each page.

Stick the book together with a front cover and have the teacher read it aloud at a school assembly.
