Materials:

A large collection of different seeds and seed pods

Stimulus work:

  • Discuss the way different plants spread their seeds (do not rely on natives at this stage)
  • Explore the reasons why plants need to spread their seeds. Why can’t they just drop them right underneath the parent plant?
  • Encourage students to handle a variety of seed pods and discuss the different ways plants spread their seeds.
