The Home, a fashionable magazine published by Sydney
Ure Smith, featured many photos and articles on the Ballets Russes
while the companies were visiting. This photograph of Protée was posed on the roof garden of Feltex House, Sydney. Protée—with
choreography by David Lichine, music by Claude Debussy and designs
by Giorgio di Chirico—was seen as a quintessentially modern
European ballet.
