Laurel Martyn’s 1952 production of The Sentimental
Bloke closely followed the storyline in C.J. Dennis’ poems,
published as The Songs of a Sentimental Bloke in 1915. It told
of the adventures of Bill (The Bloke) in his search for his ‘ideel
tart’, Doreen.
