Beth Dean spent several months in Northern and Central Australia observing Aboriginal dance and ceremonial activities before creating her version, which premiered in 1954. Then in 1995 Stanton Welch created his Corroboree for the UNited We Dance Festival in San Francisco, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Charter.
