The pre-Tasman Dutch discoveries began to appear as sheet maps of the East Indies in popular and decorative atlases. Van Loon's Pascaerte van't Oostelyckste is from his Zee Atlas. The map is oriented east–west. Scales are shown in German, English and Spanish miles. Published in 1661, this map shows Dutch discoveries including Tasman's 1644 voyage from Cape York to Western Cape.
