Within a generation of the Tasman voyages, the Dutch discoveries were included on many world maps, such as this double-hemisphere world map by Frederik de Wit. Importantly, Ortelius' South Land is missing from de Wit's map, showing how the world view had shifted. The map is equally notable for the superbly engraved and etched classical tableaux of gods and goddesses, allegorical figures and animals representing the continents.
De Wit also produced a maritime atlas in 1675. Comprising 27 maps, it
is considered to be one of the most complete descriptions produced in the
seventeenth century.
