Mauritius (Lanaert Jacobszoon)
The Dutch ship Mauritius sighted the continent on its way to Java, only three months behind the Zeewolf. Aboard, sailing as supercargo (a representative of the ship’s owner, the VOC (Dutch East India Company)) was Willem Janszoon, the captain of the Duyfken. Like the Zeewolf, the crew of the Mauritius appear to have seen North West Cape, a narrow peninsula they mistook for an island.
