Zuytdorp (Marinus Wysvliet)

In 1712, the VOC (Dutch East India Company) ship Zuytdorp, captained by Marinus Wysvliet, was wrecked north of present-day Geraldton. The survivors set up camp ashore, where they are thought to have been helped by Aboriginal people and later to have lived among them. The wreck of the Zuytdorp was discovered in 1927.
