The Artists

Ron Lambert (1923-1995)

After completing a diploma in painting at the Sydney Technical College, Ron Lambert won a Fulbright Scholarship to the United States in 1959.

Travelling the world between 1960 and 1984, Lambert was impressed by the work of such Modernist artists as Dubuffet, Rothko, Bacon and Mondrian. Lambert painted in an abstract expressionist style, which was notable for its fierce colour emphasis, forceful shapes and exuberant textures.

Lambert won many awards including the Le Gay Brereton Prize, the Ryde Prize and the Campbelltown Prize.
