Ron
Lambert
(1923-1995)
After
completing a diploma in painting at the Sydney Technical College,
Ron Lambert won a Fulbright Scholarship to the United States in
1959.
Travelling
the world between 1960 and 1984, Lambert was impressed by the work
of such Modernist artists as Dubuffet, Rothko, Bacon and Mondrian.
Lambert painted in an abstract expressionist style, which was notable
for its fierce colour emphasis, forceful shapes and exuberant textures.
Lambert
won many awards including the Le Gay Brereton Prize, the Ryde Prize
and the Campbelltown Prize.
