The National Library stages four major exhibitions each year concentrating on its remarkable collection holdings. The exhibitions are designed to appeal to a broad audience and have been as ambitious as Treasures from the World's Great Libraries in 2001 and the unprecedented National Treasures touring exhibition in 2005-07. The program has also included popular and innovative touring exhibitions such as Burke and Wills: From Melbourne to Myth and The Flower Hunter: Ellis Rowan. In a New Light: Australian Photography 1850s–1930s a major photographic survey exhibition and, more recently, Facing Percy Grainger and Donald Friend: A Charmed Life focusing on the lives of two extraordinary Australians have achieved strong visitation, positive audience response and high visibility in the media. See more information about the Library's previous exhibition projects. The Library's onsite exhibitions are accompanied by extensive web-based exhibitions which are educational and informative and are visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
