Helen O'Shea spent over 12 months, from 8 February 1989 until 14 March 1990, living in Ecklin South, Victoria. She recorded interviews with the town's inhabitants about social life, local folklore and history, covering the period 1900 to 1989, in order to illuminate the social fabric of life in a small rural community.

Selected excerpt from this collection

The Fowler and Atchinson girls chant while skipping:

Judy and Eric sitting in a tree,
K-I-DOUBLE S-I-N-G.
First comes love,
Then comes marriage,
Then comes baby,
In a carriage.
