Harold White Fellowship Research Topic
Professor George Mulgan used the Library’s extensive Japanese collections to study the role of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in agricultural policymaking in Japan. She looked at the influence of LDP farm politicians on such policies as trade liberalisation, the agricultural budget and farm commodity prices.


Professor Aurelia George Mulgan completed her PhD at the ANU in Japanese Politics in 1980, and subsequently worked as a Research Fellow in the Australia-Japan Research Centre at the ANU. Associate Professor George Mulgan has taught extensively on Asian security issues and published on many aspects of Japanese politics, foreign and defence policies. Professor George Mulgan has acted as consultant to the Japanese government and advisor to the governments of Australia and New Zealand. She is currently Associate Professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of new South Wales, Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.
