The National Centre for
Australian Studies at Monash University and Open Learning Australia have
developed this web site of Federation Images. It contains a range of black and
white photographs, cartoons and newspaper excerpts from the Federation period
in Australia, including inaugural celebrations, processions and arches, the
opening of the first Commonwealth Parliament, shared perceptions, young
Australia and the independent spirit, and conflict and the community. Most of
the images have been retrieved are from original newspaper sources and can be
found in major libraries.
