Weihaiwei

The port of Weihai, formerly Weihaiwei, in Shantung Province was leased by Great Britain from China as a naval base, and renamed Port Edward, in 1899. The lease was surrendered to China in 1930.

West Indies Associated States

After the Federation of the West Indies was dissolved in 1962, the former crown colonies of Great Britain joined into a free association with Britain. The group comprised Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Christopher (St Kitts)-Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Western Pacific

The territories of the Western Pacific High Commission comprised the Gilbert and Ellice archipelagos, a British Solomon Islands protectorate and the Anglo-French Condominium of the New Hebrides.

Western Samoa

Western Samoa was a German protectorate from 1899 to 1914. It was administered by New Zealand from 1920 to 1961. The United Nations trusteeship agreement with New Zealand was terminated on 1 January 1962, when Western Samoa became an independent state.
