Australian Federal Parliament, Melbourne

Following its establishment in Melbourne, the first 20 years of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library saw the rapid growth of non-parliamentary, as well as parliamentary material. The arrival of the Petherick Collection in 1909 and the subsequent establishment of an Australian Collections section, heralded a storage problem that would continue to plague the Library for the next 50 years.
