Registration
Registering for the conference is
easy. All you need to do is complete the registration form
and send it to us with your payment. There is also a special program planned
for people accompanying delegates so they can enjoy
Canberra and the surrounding district whilst the delelgate improves their mind
at the conference.

Day delegates are welcome - the
fee per day is AUD$250.00 for ALIA and IFLA members and AUD$350.00 for
non-members. The day fee includes lunch but not any social functions or tours
on that day. Send an email to ildsconference@nla.gov.au for
further information on registering as a day delegate.
Payment of fees must accompany all
registration forms. Your registration WILL NOT be confirmed until payment is
received in full. Payment must be made in Australian dollars (AUD$). To check
what these fees are in your currency you can use a
currency
convertor.

Social
program
Four great social events will help
you relax after a hard day at the conference and catch up with friends and new
acquaintances. The following social events are included in the conference
registration fee for delegates. Accompanying
persons may also come to the social events.

The host city welcomes you to Canberra with a friendly, informal cocktail
reception at the Canberra Theatre Link, Civic Square in the heart of the
city. |

Conference welcome
reception: The organisers welcome you to the conference in the foyer of the
National Library
of Australia with its 16 magnificent stained glass windows which glow as
the sun sets. |
Wednesday 29 October

Conference dinner: The
Great Hall in Australia's national
Parliament House is the
setting for the formal conference dinner, with a menu giving you all the tastes
of Australia and music by a 3-piece jazz band.

Great outdoor entertainment
evening: A fun, informal evening at the
National Botanic
Gardens where you will be served three courses in different parts of the
Gardens, wandering amongst the Australian native plants between courses whilst
listening to the early evening birdsong
and then watch a film under the
stars. |
Tours
Friday 31 October

Library
tours: Visits to some of the high
performing interlibrary loan and document supply operations of the libraries in
Canberra are part of the conference program. They are included in your
conference fee. |
Saturday 1 November
2003 Full day |
Beaches and
the Bush:
Travel through
rural countryside to a white sand beach in
Murramarang National Park for a swim in the ocean, take a
walk in the bush with a local aboriginal elder and enjoy a barbecue lunch
beside a pool at an ecotourism resort in the National Park. Kangaroos abound
and you will be able to get close enough to have your photograph taken with
one! This tour is not included in the conference registration fee for
delegates, it is an optional extra. Adequate numbers are needed for the
tour. |
Accompanying persons program
If you have someone accompanying
you to the conference they can enjoy Canberra and the nearby areas whilst you
improve your mind at the conference. Two half-day and one full-day excursions
are available, all of which start at 9:30 am at the National Library of
Australia, the conference venue. Accompanying people can also go on the one-day
Beaches and the Bush tour on the Saturday after
the conference ends, and attend any of the events on the social program.
It is easy for an accompanying
person to join a tour or attend a social event. The registration form is
available below. Please complete a registration for accompanying persons and
fax or post it to the address on the form with your payment. The prices for the
tour and social events are on the form.

Cultural walking
tour: See three major cultural institutions within easy walking distance of
each other, starting with the National Library and including the
National Gallery of
Australia. Get to areas the public never see with expert tour
guides. |
Wednesday 29 October

Golf in the countryside:
Spend the day in Braidwood, a small heritage town
near Canberra, set in a peaceful, agricultural district with a rich and
colourful goldmining history. As well as seeing the local sights you get to
play a nine-hole round of golf on the local picturesque golf course ... no
experience necessary ... clubs supplied! |

Sightseeing around
Canberra: View all of Canberra from a lookout, become familiar with
Australia's history and enjoy the parks and gardens of Canberra on this bus
tour to some of the key tourist sights in Canberra. |
Visa requirements
Please note that all visitors to Australia need a visa, except
visitors from New Zealand who only need a valid New Zealand passport.
