Where are items listed on the Australian Historical Records Register?

The Australian Historical Records Register (AHRR) was a database describing archival material of historical significance held in private ownership in Australia. It has now been retired and is no longer being updated.

The manuscripts listed on the AHRR are held in a variety of repositories, mostly in private hands. Access conditions vary depending on what the owner has specified.

Please contact the Pictures and Manuscripts branch of the National Library for advice on the register or for a particular manuscript from our the Library's collection.

You can also search for manuscript and archival material held in Australian public collections on Trove.
