Is there an Australian Refugee Policy?

Australia is bound by the United Nation's Convention and protocol relating to the Status of Refugees. Information on Australia's Refugee and humanitarian Programme can be found on the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection website.

There are also several electronic resources which would enable you to locate references to journal articles, book chapters and conference proceedings, some in full text. The following resources are only accessible within the Library's Reading Rooms, although you might also find these resources at your local library:

MAIS - Multicultural Australia and Immigration Studies

Australian Public Affairs Full Text

For books on Australian government policy and refugees you could try searching our online catalogue. Try searching with the words "refugees government policy australia" (include quotation marks). If you are unable to visit the National Library, Trove can help you find and get items at libraries near you. See the FAQ What is Trove and how can I use it?
