Australian Library Collections Task Force

Overview

The Australian Library Collections Task Force was established as a result of the Recommendations and Resolutions made by the National Round Table on Access to overseas Monographs through Australian Libraries. The Task Force is to examine issues relating to access to library resources in Australia. The Task Force consists of representatives from the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL), Council of Australian State Libraries (CASL), Special Libraries and Academia. It is chaired and supported by the National Library.

Initiatives and activities of the Task Force include:

National Bibliographic Database Survey
At the first meeting of the Australian Library Collections Task Force, in February 1999, members of the Task Force concluded that it would be valuable to collect information on participation in the NBD across the key library sectors. The survey is the result.
Looking for Books
The Australian Library Collections Task Force produced the first ever national survey of the experiences that academics and other researchers have in accessing books to support their research.
Access to Scientific Journals in Australian Libraries
Following Looking for Books, the Task Force has examined issues surrounding access to serials in Australian libraries.
