Other accommodation options

The Canberra Tourism web site provides an extensive list of other options for accommodation or you can telephone the Canberra Visitors Centre on 02 6205 0044.

Getting to Canberra

Two airlines service Canberra:

Canberra's airport is a short shuttle bus or taxi ride from the city centre and the National Library (each is about 15 minutes from the airport). Travel from the airport to city hotels will cost approximately $16 by taxi. The airport-city shuttle bus is available during the week, and costs $5 one way. See the Airliner Shuttle Bus website for a map and timetable.

You can also get to Canberra by train or there are a range of bus services which have regular services to Canberra from other cities (Greyhound, McCafferty's, and Murrays are three bus companies which service Canberra).

Getting around Canberra

There are parking spaces for over 350 vehicles and 6 motorcycles at the National Library. The carparks are patrolled by parking inspectors so you would be wise to check any time restrictions before leaving your vehicle. There are 6 'Disabled Persons' car parking spaces and ramp access on the south (Treasury) side of the building. Our website includes information about getting to the Library (including a map).

Canberra is well serviced with off-road bicycle paths and there are facilities at the Library for visitors to secure their cycles.

Buses run through the area regularly — check the ACTION timetables for suburban routes, schedules and ticket options.

There is one taxi service in Canberra (phone 13 22 27).
