Overview
The National Resource Sharing Working Group (NRSWG) was set up
based on a proposal to ensure
that a robust, reliable and cost-effective interlending system, built on
cooperation and agreed service standards and policies, is in place to serve
Australian libraries and their users. The final forum of the National Resource
Sharing Working Group and Policy Committee was held in the National Library,
Canberra, on 30 July 2004.
The group was set up at the initiative of the National Library in
response to concerns expressed by users and librarians about the effectiveness
of the current interlending system. In setting up this group, the Library had
received strong support from peak industry bodies the
Council of Australian State Libraries
(CASL) , the Council of Australian
University Librarians (CAUL), the Australian Library and Information Association
(ALIA) and the Australian Library Collections
Task Force .
Initiatives and activities of the group included:

- Australian ILRS Code
- The Australian ILRS Code has been developed by the National
Resource Sharing Working Group (NRSWG) to replace the Australian Interlending
Code (developed by ACLIS) as the standard for resource sharing in
Australia.
- The NRSWG developed the new Code in consultation with the
ILL/DD library community.
- The Code has been endorsed by the Australian Library &
Information Association (ALIA), the Council of Australian State Libraries
(CASL), the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) and the National
Library of Australia.
- Document Delivery
Service Level Codes
- The National Resource Sharing Working Group has approved a
series of codes to represent Australian Document Delivery Service Levels in ILL
Protocol compliant requests.
- Interlending Services and the
GST

consider to meet the requirements of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as it
applies to interlending services.
- Improving Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery
Services

Australia in Canberra on 22 October 1999. Mary's presentation summarised the
