- Digital Services Project
- The Library's key strategy for ensuring effective management of
its digital collections.
- National Plan for Australian Newspapers (NPLAN)
- A cooperative initiative established by the
Council of Australian State Libraries
(CASL) involving all State and Territory Libraries and coordinated by the
National Library of Australia.
- People Australia
- The National Library of Australia is creating an online resource discovery service called People Australia. The service will allow users to access information about significant Australian people and organisations as well as related biographical and contextual information.
- Subject Suggester Tool
- A project by the Collections Management Division of the National Library to investigate the feasibility of developing a subject suggester tool for use in cataloguing.
- X.500/LDAP Directory Services for interlibrary Loan
- A project to develop an X.500 version of the Library's Interlibrary Resource Sharing Directory using an information model developed by the Interlibrary Loan Protocol Implementors Group (IPIG).
- ARROW
- The National Library has developed the resource discovery service for the ARROW project.
- Australian Cooperative
Digitisation Project
- A collaborative project between the University of Sydney
Library, the State Library of New South Wales, the National Library of
Australia and Monash University Library to digitise from microfilm a range of
Australian serials and fiction of the period 1840-1845.
- Asian Accounts of
Australia: Change, Comparison, and Analysis
- A Joint project between the Australian National University and
the National Library of Australia under the auspices of the
Australian
Research Council Strategic Partnerships with Industry Research and Training
Scheme.
- Barton Project
- The Papers of Sir Edmund Barton web site was the
outcome of the Library's first project to digitise an entire manuscript
collection.
- Bringing them Home Oral History
Project
- The collected and preserved the stories of Indigenous people
and others, such as missionaries, police and administrators involved in or
affected by the process of child removals.
- Endeavour: Captain Cooks
Journal 1768 71; CD-ROM
- This project involved the digitisation of James Cooks
original journal together with images and video footage. The resulting CD-ROM
was jointly published by the National Library and the Australian National
Maritime Museum in Sydney.
- Multicultural Documentary Heritage Project
- Aimed at assisting culturally and linguistically diverse community organisations (sometimes called ethnic organisations) to look after their documentary records, letters, diaries, photographs, electronic files and other unpublished material.
- MusicAustralia
- A web-based music service that provides integrated access to Australian music resources and information to all Australians and other interested users.
- Rare Maps Digitisation Project
- A project to trial the digitisation of rare maps from the
Library's collections completed at the end of 1998.
- South Seas Project
- South Seas is a research venture conceived and undertaken by Paul Turnbull and Chris Blackall with the support of the National Library of Australia and Centre for Cross-Cultural Research, at the Australian National University.
- Review of Reference
Services 1988
- A review undertaken in 1988 of the reference services the
Library offers through its reading rooms as well as through telephone and
electronic inquiry services.
- South Asia: Renovating the
National Collection 1995
- A collaborative project headed by the Curtin University of
Technology to renovate the national South Asian collection by identifying unlisted South Asian materials in Australia and initiating an acquisitions program to increase the amount of South Asian material in the National Collection.
- Trial Using Scanners for Data Input in Cataloguing
- A project by the Collections Management Division of the National Library to investigate using hand-held scanners to input data for cataloguing purpose.
