Activities
- A statement setting out the the Librarys current
standards activities, and the directions and priorities which it wishes to
pursue in the medium term. This document is updated two-three times per
year.
- Australian Committee
on Cataloguing
- The Australian Committee on Cataloguing (ACOC) is a joint
Australian Library and Information AssociationNational Library of
Australia committee charged with monitoring and influencing developments in
national and international cataloguing and classification.
- Standards
Australia/New Zealand Technical Committee IT/19
- Technical Committee IT/19, Computer Applications - Information
and Documentation, addresses standardization practices relating to libraries,
information services and related tasks.

- Australian METS Profile
- An open, extensible and standard way of packaging metadata for digital objects.
- Digitisation of Traditional
Format Library Materials - Guidelines
- Guidelines developed by the National Library of Australia for
the digitisation of its own collections.
- Guidelines for the
Creation of Content for Resource Discovery Metadata
- A document prepared by the National Library of Australia and
the State Library of Tasmania in 2002 to assist with the creation of quality,
consistent descriptive metadata for online resources.
- ISO 2146 Project
- A project being led by the National Library of Australia to
revise ISO 2146 : 1988 (E) Documentation -- Directories of libraries,
archives, information and documentation centres in the form of a framework
standard for a range of directory applications.
- Lists of Standards and
Standard Organisations
- A page of links maintained by the National Library to lists of
standards and standard organisations of interest to libraries.
- Meta Matters
- A subject gateway to metadata resources in Australia and New
Zealand and subject related links overseas. Meta Matters was originally
developed as part of the MetaWeb
Project and is now maintained by the
Dublin Core ANZ Group. [January 2007 - Meta Matters site appears to be no longer functioning, link removed]
- Preservation Metadata for
Digital Collections
- An exposure draft issued by the National Library of Australia
in October1999 outlining the information it believed would be needed to manage
the preservation of its digital collections.
- Z39.50 Union Catalogue Profile
- An internationally registered profile intended to enable update
of catalogues using the Z39.50 Extended Service for Update. The National
Library of Australia is the maintenance agency for the profile.
