X.500/LDAP Directory Services for Interlibrary Loan
The National Library of Australia is developing an X.500 version of its Interlibrary Resource Sharing Directory. This will enable X.500/LDAP compliant systems to obtain the directory information needed to support interlibrary loan and document delivery workflows in Australia without having to maintain this data locally.
The X.500/LDAP schema being used for this project is based on an information model developed by the Interlibrary Loan Protocol Implementors Group (IPIG): Interlibrary Loan Application Standards Maintenance Agency. Directory Services for Interlibrary Loan. The schema has been generalised slightly in line with a proposal to use the IPIG model as the core for the new ISO 2146 directories standard which is still undergoing a ratification process by the IPIG.
